Donnell McDonald, MD
Orthopedic Surgeon
Dr. McDonald is a fellowship-trained orthopedic spine surgeon who recently joined Advanced Orthopedic Center. He completed a Spine Surgery Fellowship at Florida Orthopaedic Institute after finishing orthopedic surgery residency training at the University of Arizona in Phoenix. He earned a medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine and holds degrees in Biomedical Science and Exercise Science.
Dr. McDonald specializes in treating a wide range of spinal conditions with both surgical and non-surgical techniques. His main priority is providing patient centered care that improves his patient’s quality of life.
His specialties include minimally invasive and complex spine surgery, degenerative spinal disorders, AI-driven custom 3D printed implants, artificial lumbar/cervical disc replacement, sacroiliac joint dysfunction and fusion, and lateral and anterior spinal surgery. He has a strong interest in utilizing robotic and image-guided technology to enhance precision and safety in spine surgery.
His research has been featured in several peer-reviewed publications and national presentations. Outside of work, Dr. McDonald is passionate about giving back through community service and mentoring. He enjoys spending time with his spouse and two children, traveling, visiting museums, and watching FSU and Miami Dolphins football.
Dr. McDonald sees patients in the building he shares with Dr. Getter, located across the parking lot from the main Advanced Orthopedic Center facility at 1675 South Tamiami Trail, Port Charlotte, FL 33948. He also sees patients at our Punta Gorda office.
