New Office Now Open - Walk-ins are Welcome!

Advanced Orthopedic Center is now open in North Port, bringing board-certified orthopedic and spine care closer to home for this growing community. Dr. Weishuhn, Dr. Thomas, Dr. Braut, and Dr. McDonald all see patients at this location, covering everything from joint replacement and sports injuries to fractures and spine surgery. Walk-ins are welcome at our North Port office, so you don't have to wait for a scheduled appointment to be seen.

As with every Advanced Orthopedic Center location, no referral is needed to schedule here. If you're not sure which specialist fits your condition, our team can help point you in the right direction before your first visit.

Conditions and Services We Treat Here

• Neck, back, and spine conditions. Herniated and degenerative discs, sacroiliac joint dysfunction, and complex spine conditions, treated by Dr. McDonald using minimally invasive and robotic-assisted techniques.

• Joint pain and joint replacement. Hip and knee arthritis and reconstruction, including anterior approach and robotic-assisted total hip replacement from Dr. Weishuhn, and Mako robotic-assisted partial knee and total hip replacement from Dr. Braut.

• Sports and activity injuries. ACL and rotator cuff injuries, tennis elbow, and the strains that come with staying active in North Port, treated by Dr. Thomas.

• Fractures and trauma. Dr. Thomas and Dr. Braut both treat traumatic injuries as part of general orthopedic care.

• General orthopedic care. Shoulder, elbow, hand, hip, and knee conditions, plus ankle injuries.

North Port does not currently have a confirmed podiatrist on-site for foot-specific conditions. We'll help coordinate that visit at another location if needed.

Meet Dr. McDonald, North Port's Spine Surgeon

Dr. McDonald is a fellowship-trained orthopedic spine surgeon and the only spine surgeon based in North Port. He trained at the Florida Orthopaedic Institute after completing his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Arizona, and his practice focuses on minimally invasive and complex spine surgery, degenerative spinal disorders, artificial lumbar and cervical disc replacement, and sacroiliac joint fusion. He also works with AI-driven, custom 3D printed implants and image-guided spine surgery technology, tools most patients would otherwise have to travel well outside North Port to access.

For neck, back, and spine conditions, that means North Port patients no longer need to be routed to our Port Charlotte Spine Center. Dr. McDonald sees those patients directly, here.
