Hip Pain Relief
Understanding Hip Pain
It changes how you move before you notice it’s happening. A shorter walk. A slower pace on the stairs. Sitting out a round of golf you’d normally play. Hip pain quietly shrinks your day. Our board-certified, fellowship-trained specialists treat everything from arthritis to labral tears.
Common hip problems we treat
Osteoarthritis.Cartilage cushioning the hip wears down over time. Common after age 50.
Bursitis.Inflammation of the small cushioning sac on the outside of the hip.
Labral tear.Damage to the cartilage rim of the hip socket, often from sports or repetitive motion.
Tendinitis.Irritation of the tendons around the hip from overuse.
Fracture. From a fall. More common as bone density decreases with age.
An old injury that never fully healed.A hip that hasn’t felt the same since a past fall or strain.
You don’t need to know which one this is before you come in. That’s what the evaluation is for.
Diagnosis and what treatment can look like
We check your range of motion, gait, and strength. We ask what movements trigger the pain: walking, stairs, standing up. If needed, we order an X-ray or MRI the same visit. From there, treatment can include physical therapy, activity modification, an injection, a minimally invasive repair, or, when the joint has worn out, partial or total hip replacement. We start with the least invasive option that fits your hip.
Recovery
Many patients feel real relief within weeks of starting therapy or an injection. Surgery takes longer. Physical therapy plays a big part in getting your strength back. Most patients return to walking, golf, and gardening without hip pain slowing them down.
Why Advanced Orthopedic Center
We have four Southwest Florida offices: Port Charlotte, Punta Gorda, Venice, and North Port. Over 40 years of caring for local families. No referral needed; you can schedule directly with a board-certified specialist. Imaging and physical therapy are in-house, so you’re not bounced between offices for basic steps. We treat surgery as a last resort, not a first recommendation.
What does hip arthritis feel like?
A deep ache in the groin, thigh, or buttock that worsens with walking or standing. Stiffness is often worst first thing in the morning or after sitting for a while.
