Person holding a painful ankle after an injury

Foot & Ankle Pain Relief

Understanding Foot & Ankle Pain

It hits the moment your feet touch the floor. That first step in the morning. A walk on the beach. Standing through a full day. Every step relies on the foot and ankle working right, which is why pain here is so hard to ignore. Our board-certified, fellowship-trained specialists treat everything from plantar fasciitis to arthritis.

Common foot & ankle problems we treat

  • Plantar fasciitis.Inflammation along the bottom of the foot. Often worst with the first steps of the day.

  • Achilles tendinitis.Irritation of the tendon connecting your calf to your heel.

  • Arthritis.Wear on the joints of the foot or ankle. Often stiffness and aching.

  • Ankle sprain or ligament injury. From a twist, misstep, or repeated instability.

  • Bunions or joint deformities.Changes in foot shape that cause pain with pressure or footwear.

  • Fracture. From a fall, misstep, or direct impact.

You don’t need to know which one this is before you come in. That’s what the evaluation is for.

Diagnosis and what treatment can look like

We check your gait, range of motion, and stability. We ask what activities set off the pain: walking, standing, stairs. If needed, we order an X-ray or MRI the same visit. From there, treatment can include orthotics, bracing, physical therapy, an injection, a minimally invasive repair, or, when conservative care hasn’t worked, surgery. We start with the least invasive option that fits your foot or ankle.

Recovery

Many patients feel real relief within weeks of therapy, orthotics, or an injection. Surgery takes longer. Physical therapy plays a big part in getting your strength and stability back. Most patients return to walking, beach days, and standing through a full day without foot or ankle pain slowing them down.

Why Advanced Orthopedic Center

We have four Southwest Florida offices: Port Charlotte, Punta Gorda, Venice, and North Port. Over 40 years of caring for local families. No referral needed; you can schedule directly with a board-certified specialist. Imaging and physical therapy are in-house, so you’re not bounced between offices for basic steps. We treat surgery as a last resort, not a first recommendation.
